Last March 311 released their eleventh studio album Stereolithic which debuted at number six on the Billboard charts. Since then the band has set out on a tour for the album and are even celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their sophomore album Grassroots. This Tuesday the band will be heading to Wallingford, CT marking their triumphant return to the Connecticut stomping grounds. 311 hasn't been to Connecticut since 2012's Unity Tour where they were alongside Slightly Stoopid in Hartford. That was actually the first show I ever photographed. We'll be coming up on the two-year anniversary of that show in about a month. Stereolithic was released on March 11th through 311 Records (the bands own independent label) and is a great release from the band. If you have yet to listen to the record I recommend that you listen to it when you get a chance. Songs like "Ebb and Flow," "Revalation of the Year," and "Sand Dollars," give the album an eccentric 311 "flow." The band is known for their hip-hop/reggae cross over and if you listen to the song "The Great Divide," you'll definitely feel a classic 311 vibe. 311 has a lot under their belt; 9 top-ten hits, numerous nights headlining shows and festivals, and they are even running their own cruise every summer. It's amazing to know that these five guys do so much to entertain the fans. The band will be hitting Connecticut THIS TUESDAY! You can check out their return to Connecticut over at The Dome in The Oakdale Theater. Tickets are on sale starting at 35 bucks and you can get those HERE. If you do decide to show up, please make sure you Come Original.

We here at JSimpson's Music Blog love music but one of the bands we always will show love and support to is Slightly Stoopid. One of the first bands I've met, photographed, and actually listened to. I've seen them three times and all three times my mind has been blown. Check out the latest release from the band, a remix to the song "No Cocaine," which was originally from the band's album Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid. The remix features a collaboration with Inner Circle and Capleton. It's a great mix compared to the original version. Check out the video for the remix below. Don't forget that you can catch Slightly Stoopid on tour all summer long alongside NOFX, Stephen Marley, Cypress Hill, and G.Love & Special Sauce. |
