"Who ready to ride or die for me? Time to welcome home the dead homie... dead homie." That is right! Blaze Ya Dead Homie has returned with his latest release The Casket Factory. The twelve track album was released January 15th and I haven't been able to stop listening to it. Each song brings it's own unique vibe to your speakers. Be it "Ghost" or even several tracks after with "Worm Food" you can definitely sense the individualism in each track. This album marks Blaze Ya Dead Homie's second release on Majik Ninja Entertainment. The label might not be Psychopathic Records but The Casket Factory features a lot more Psychopathic artists on this album compared to Blaze's last one. One appearance was from ABK on the song "Ratchet." Any Body Killer came into the track on point talking about the ratchets from the hood. It was a comedy driven track that was given just the right amount of lyrics to become a hit. It wasn't quite Drive-By but I'll still take it. Boondox also returned and was put onto a track called "Who U Lookin' 4." This had to be my personal favorite tune off the album. That hook alone gives me chills "Pull the trigger and turn you into a ghost!" Blaze and Boondox have been a phenomenal team since they worked on "Dead Neck" off Clockwork Grey. There are also some new names to collaborate with Blaze. Three tracks in on the track "Ghost" you'll hear Kung Fu Vampire. But then there's also Lex the Hex Master who is featured on the track "They Call That Gangsta." According to Blaze, "Lex brings his own East coast style to the tracks." Alongside Blaze's hype-man The R.O.C. everyone on the track literally murders it. The ending of the trip to The Casket Factory is a song entitled "I Will Bury U." It was the best way to end this album. Blaze Ya Mortician err... Ya Dead Homie closes the album on a song where he describes how he's going to bury you after finding the perfect casket. "This shovel, the earth, this casket it works, it fits, it's right, I'LL BURY YOU TONIGHT." The haunting chant echos as the song goes on until you are greeted by a deep voice. The voice tells you that you have reached the end of the album and that there is a casket made for you. It's like a eulogy that later transforms into a message saying "I'm the dead man and I'm coming for you ALL!" I loved every minute of this album. It's what we expected to hear from Blaze, it's what we wanted to hear from Blaze, and it's what we heard from Blaze. Tour dates and link to listen to the album on Spotify below the break.

Can't afford a ticket to the Tennessee festival this year? Well with some nice speakers and a good wi-fi reception you can almost enjoy it to full capacity. The festival will be streaming on both Xbox and the festival's website. Among the line-up are: Pusha-T, Cage The Elephant, Vampire Weekend, Tedeschi Trucks, Cake, Jack White, Lionel Richie, and Elton John. What I am really looking forward to is the "Super Jam" on Saturday night lead by Derek Trucks. Who knows who will show up. You can see the streaming schedule HERE. Donald Glover is not only known as "that dude from Community" by night he's actually an amazing rapper known as Childish Gambino. Glover recently released his album as Gambino entitled "Because the Internet" which featured numerous collaborations one which included fellow lyricist Chance the Rapper on the song "The Worst Guys." Initially it was thought that Chance would rap a verse on the song but all he did was contribute to the hook. Recently during Childish Gambino's performance at The Governors Ball in New York City he was joined by Chance The Rapper who actually debuted his verse for the song "The Worst Guys." After the show Glover sent out a tweet teasing at a collaboration EP between Chance and himself. The EP has so much potential, both artists have so much talent between them and can feed off of the energy in the crowd to produce even more energy. The tweet from Glover is as follows: Now that Chance finally released his verse on Worst Guys maybe he can hurry up and finish the rest of our EP. #hinthint" So umm... Psy's songs just keep getting weirder and weirder. The third installment in Psy's viral venture is called "Hangover" and features the one and only... you guessed it... Snoop Do-double-g. The west coast OG teamed up with Psy for a song all about hangovers. You may be thinking "that's the stupidest idea for a collaboration ever!" but even if it is the video is wild. Psy swims naked in a fountain, tips shot glasses like dominoes, and fighting whoever he can find. Did we neglect to mention that Psy spends the first minute of the video hunched over the toilet while Snoop Dogg dances in a bath tub? You'd have to be really stoned to come up with the ideas presented in this video. Psy still tries to follow up his most successful hit, "Gangham Style", which just recently hit two billion views on youtube. So whatcha' whatcha' whatcha' want? That's an easy question... 1.7 million dollars. The remaining members of rap group The Beastie Boys recently filed a lawsuit against Monster Energy due to copy-write infringement. Monster Energy allegedly used the trio's songs in some recent commercials which landed the company in some very hot water. The commercials included the songs "Sabotage," ''So Watcha Want," ''Make Some Noise," ''Pass the Mic" and "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun." A lot of money was given to the remaining Beasties, $120,000 was awarded per copy-write infringement (ten of which were committed) and an additional $500,000 was owed due to Monster stealing the likeness of the rappers suggesting a false endorsement. Overall the band ended up leaving with 1.7 million dollars! Monster really deserves to pay up especially if they did not have the rights to use the music of the Beastie Boys, just trying to milk the youth for their money is what it seems. |
