Eric Clapton, or as some refer to him as "Slow Hand," recently talked to Uncut Magazine. Clapton discusses how he is planning to retire touring on the road for a while. He was also asked about a Cream reunion. Check out the video for Eric Clapton & Friends' "Call Me The Breeze," which will be featured on the upcoming album The Breeze An Appreciation of JJ Cale. What Eric Clapton had to say about the road:
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone Magazine the guitarist stated that he planned to quit touring around the ripe old age of 70. Seeing how his 70th birthday is rapidly approaching it seems as though his statement can be seen as true.
Clapton was also asked about a CREAM reunion where he replied by saying he hadn't talked to band mates Jack Bruce or Ginger Baker since their American affair. Clapton went on to say "At this time in my life, I don’t want blood on my hands! I don’t want to be part of some kind of tragic confrontation" meaning if they don't want to talk to him then he won't force them to talk to him and get on wrong terms. Hoping for the best. Eric Clapton does have an album coming out July 29th called The Breeze An Appreciation of JJ Cale which is a tribute to singer/song writer JJ Cale who passed away due to heart failure last year on July 26th. The album is set to feature performances by Derek Trucks, John Mayer, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and more. Recently in Colombia the almighty Metallica unleashed their latest quote/unquote "masterpiece" called "Lords of Summer." The song was originally performed live but it seems as though the thrashers wanted to make it an official release so they brought it to the studio. The eight minute song according to drummer Lars Ulrich is an anthem for the summer. You can check out the track below, it's a great song and definitely lives up to the Metallica name. I do believe that this is not the last we will hear of this song especially since this version is considered the "First Pass Version," as though it were an advance version of a demo. In an interview with Metal Hammer Lars had this to also add:
Wow. It seems as though Guns 'N' Roses is angry at the press over at AXS-TV. In a recent Facebook post the band slammed the TV channel calling them "sorry mother fuckers who can't appreciate what they see," and posted a link of the band playing live at the Marquee and asked them to skip to the nine minute mark. Nine minutes into the video Axl goes on a rant in between songs and says, "Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one," and associated the slogan to all the press out there. This post from GNR seems to display the classic GNR everyone knows and loves hence the last paragraph. We all are aware of how picky and argumentative Axl Rose can become and secretly we await the results of an "Axl Meltdown." You can check out the video below and hear the message Axl sent out to the press in the crowd at nine minutes. I recently got the chance to interview Mushroomhead vocalist J Mann about various topics including the Slipknot/Mushroomhead tour and the upcoming Mayhem Festival tour. After his near ten year hiatus from the band J Mann is back and ready to get back in the loop and tour the bands new album, The Righteous & The Butterfly. Check out the entire interview over at my other website, Hardcoreshots.org. Mayhem, UK, and EP's are just among some of the topics. I also bring up the comment that Corey Taylor discussed not to long ago about the Mushroomhead and Slipknot tour and J Mann told me: “We’re just waiting for the phone call. Anytime they call we’re down! We’ll be there I promise you that! We are a phone call away I don’t care what we’re doing or where we are we will stop it and be on that fucking thing the minute they call." Fans claim that Avenged Sevenfold sold out, they say that the band ran away from their roots after becoming mainstream, well it looks like the band heard what everyone was saying and decided to work on going back. But will the fans accept it? August 26th will mark the eleventh anniversary of Waking The Fallen and to celebrate the band has plans to release Waking The Fallen: Resurrected. This version will contain demo versions of the original songs as well as alternative takes of the songs. See the track listing below. The band is offering pre-order packages for as low as $40.00 USD and that will get you hooked up with either the album on vinyl or a CD/DVD combo with a T-shirt. For $20.00 more dollars you can grab them all. The CD comes with a DVD documentary full of interviews and original cuts of both "Chapter Four," and "Unholy Confessions." Pre-orders can be purchased HERE. Don't forget to check Avenged Sevenfold out on this year's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival.
Yesterday at Stadtpark in Hamburg, Germany Limp Bizkit fulfilled their dream performance by bringing out thrash rockers Anthrax to play a cover of "Bring The Noise." Prior to bringing out the duo of Scott Ian and Frankie Bello, Durst said “If I could have a dream come true, I’d like to bring Anthrax out onstage with us right now.” Joey Belladonna also joined the group but essentially just hung around back leaning against the drum riser. The 1991 song "Bring The Noise," was originally sung by Public Enemy and Anthrax and was considered the staple of rap-rock which technically paved way for Limp Bizkit. You can check out the video below shot from a lucky fan in Germany. Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman have released the new lyric video for their title track from the next album Savages. The song features legendary shock-rocker Alice Cooper lending his voice to the band and making the track sound a tad bit more eerie. Savages is due out July 29th via Roadrunner Records. I am aware that Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is a fan of film. He did write a soundtrack for a movie (In The Wild) a couple years back, yet I would never figure him to be a Disney fan. At a recent performance in Milan, Italy the band decided to mash up with the Frozen song "Let it Go." During the song "Daughter" fans noticed something a little different with one of the choruses. Vedder had began singing the song "Let it Go" and though it may have been a tease of 40 seconds fans did sing along. It was a unique thing to do, especially for Pearl Jam. I would expect similar actions from Bruce Springsteen but it was an awesome cover nonetheless despite being very brief. Check out the 44 second clip below as well as the full version of "Just Breathe" and "Daughter." |
