This might not be that heavy as compared to what I usually post about but it was very interesting. It seems as though Chris Cornell (vocalist of Soundgarden) has been talking to guitarist Tom Morello (of Rage Against The Machine.) Cornell is planning to show up at Morello's upcoming acoustic performance on September 26th for 15 Now. Both musicians have not performed together since the band broke it off in 2007. The performance should be an amazing moment for all fans of Audioslave. Who knows what will happen as a result of the event. It's possible that both Morello and Cornell will talk to Tim Commerford (bassist of Rage Against The Machine) and Brad Wilk (drummer of Rage Against The Machine) for a full on Audioslave reunion and possible album. One could only wish. Until then we will be waiting here "Like a Stone." You can learn more about Tom Morello's performance over at http://15now.org where the fight to raise minimum wage to fifteen dollars lives.
I am aware that Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder is a fan of film. He did write a soundtrack for a movie (In The Wild) a couple years back, yet I would never figure him to be a Disney fan. At a recent performance in Milan, Italy the band decided to mash up with the Frozen song "Let it Go." During the song "Daughter" fans noticed something a little different with one of the choruses. Vedder had began singing the song "Let it Go" and though it may have been a tease of 40 seconds fans did sing along. It was a unique thing to do, especially for Pearl Jam. I would expect similar actions from Bruce Springsteen but it was an awesome cover nonetheless despite being very brief. Check out the 44 second clip below as well as the full version of "Just Breathe" and "Daughter." I tip my hat to Jack White. The White Stripes singer topped the Billboard 200 with his latest release Lazaretto selling 138,000 copies. Not only did White reach number one but he managed to set a record by selling 40,000 copies of the vinyl edition of the album in it's first week. The vinyl record record must have been an easy task for White to accomplish since the record is jam packed with bonus features that certainly caught the public's eye. Lazaretto is White's third studio album and is a follow up to 2012's Blunderbuss, (which sold the same amount around 138,000 copies according to Billboard.com) White was just recently at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee where he played some of the songs off of Lazaretto. In case you have yet to hear the new album you can check it out now streaming on Spotify. The new (and catchy) single from Arctic Monkeys gets an awesome new video. In the midst of a recent setback where Youtube is rumored to be ridding of all videos produced by indie labels (which includes videos from artists such as Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, and Radiohead,) the Arctic Monkeys show no fear and proudly give the world the official video for "Snap Out of It." The single is featured on the bands recent album 'AM' and the band is setting out on a world wide tour starting on July 7th Last year the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival brought us Alice In Chains and Janes Addiction and tons of bands. Today the festival released the full line-up for 2014 as well as the tour dates. On the main stage this year will be Godsmack, (who will be touring their upcoming release '1000 hp') Seether, Buckcherry, Skillet, Pop Evil and Escape The Fate, and Redlight King. Fear not though! Many other bands will be at this years festival including: Three Years Hollow, New Medicine, Within Reason, Sons of Revelry, These Raven Skies, and Tattered. Also joining the tour this year is a very special burlesque show by the Suicide Girls... every man's fantasy! The tour kicks off August 14th in Detroit Michigan and runs to September 21st. Check out the dates below. This years Vans Warped Tour has a slew of bands: Falling In Reverse, Motionless In White, The Devil Wears Prada, Attila, and that's just a sliver of the bands playing. The Warped Tour, now in it's nineteenth year, is home to some of the major punk, indie, alternative, and metal core bands known and loved by the so called "scene." But this year the festival has decided to ban moshing and crowd surfing across all of the venues. To that I say good luck. 2014 marks the twentieth anniversary of the classic Offspring album "Smash" which made it's debut in 1994. The album contains the band's well known hits; "Come Out and Play", "Self-Esteem", and "Gotta Get Away." The band has begun their tour across the seas performing the album in it's entirety at Berlin's Groezrock. The band will be playing at the House Of Blues in Boston Massachusetts along with many other cities. Check out the upcoming tour dates and what cities The Offspring plan to 'SMASH'! Ever since Slash got together with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators they have just been cranking out songs. The upcoming album is the second to feature Kennedy. I am still waiting to see Slash reunite with former Guns And Roses band mates but I guess this new album will have to hold us over until then. The band just released the new single for the song "World On Fire." Slash's new album is set for a September 16th release through Slash's label. Check out the single below. |
