Two new singles later Slipknot finally announces the new album in detail. The fifth album from the Iowa rockers is the first without bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison. The album is titled .5: The Gray Chapter as an homage to the late bassist and is expected to be released October 21st. It's hard to think that it has been six years since the world first heard tunes like "Snuff," "Psychosocial," "Dead Memories," and "Sulfur." Back in 2008, I was a young boy who had still not seen Slipknot and I guess I waited too long. I eventually caught them on their second time headlining Mayhem Festival in 2012 without Paul Gray. The track listing for the album can be found below as well as the first two singles on the album. Slipknot will be on tour this winter with Korn and King 810.

Recently formed supergroup Killer Be Killed has released a music video for their latest single "Snakes of Jehovah." The supergroup is comprised of Max Cavalera of Soulfly, Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan, , Dave Elitch from of The Mars Volta and Troy Sanders of Mastodon. The band released their first album in 2013 and we hope to see more from them. I recently had a chance to sit down with Suicide Silence vocalist Eddie Hermida. The both of us exchanged words about the new album, how much of a sweetheart Mitch Lucker was, and even spoke about how Jason Mewes is fucking hilarious. You can check out the full interview over on my other website: Hardcoreshots.org. I really love "To Carry The Crown." It's a message to the fans: Hey I'm here to take over and whether you like it or not I'm gonna be here. It's also: If you trust in me we can have a good time together, the vibes still here, and we're still Suicide Silence. That's been my biggest concern, making sure people know they're not losing much by having me come in. I'm still giving them my heart, to me it hits closer to home and for me it's also a little message to Mitch." Oh what a long strange trip it's been for ol' Bobby Weir. The Grateful Dead guitarist recently has run into a little inconvenience causing him to cancel all upcoming dates with his Bob Weir and Ratdog. Rumors have speculated that even Further's LOCKN' Festival performance will lack the attendance of Weir. It's sad to see some one like Bobby get forced to cancel his tour dates and upset all the young dead heads. I was really looking forward to seeing the band play over at this year's Peach Festival in Pennsylvania. No official reasons have been accredited following Weir's immediate cancellations but an official statement was made on Bob Weir's Facebook page. The statement is as follows: Circumstances have necessitated that all scheduled tour dates for Bob Weir & RatDog are being cancelled. This applies to all dates on the summer tour starting on Thursday, August 14 in Boston through September 14 in Nashville and also includes the Jamaica event in January of 2015. Full and complete refunds are available at place of purchase. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience." We wish Bob Weir the best of luck while he takes his "short break" and hope that when he returns he will be back to 100% and can still jam like he used to.
It's here. The brand new track from Slipknot has recently been released. "The Negative One" has been teased for the past two weeks. The album is starting to come together and it's about damn time that Slipknot's released something. I respect that the band has taken it slow after the death of Paul Gray but one would think that by now they would bring something new to the table. With the new single Slipknot does just that. Check out the new track below. Live. Local. Ass kicking. These are the words to describe Hartford, Connecticut's former metal station WCCC. The non-corporate radio station will be shutting it's doors at 5pm. Well maybe not shutting it's doors but the station will be switching owners. Recently fans of the radio station have gained a sense of betrayal when the station recently announced that they would be switching from heavy metal (WCCC was the only station on FM radio in Connecticut to actually air heavy metal music) to classic rock. Such a move labeled the station as a "sell out" and numerous people began tuning into other stations. Just tonight I received word that the station I grew up with and have loved, supported, and listened to my entire life has been sold to another company. The company that has purchased the station is reportedly a non-profit station that has plans to switch to easy-listening and christian rock. As you can imagine this struck me as appalling. It was news that made me stop what I was doing, think about how long I've been living my life and what I've experienced. I can't even believe what has happened. The WCCC Big Gig, the Planet of Sound CD's, the endless promotional events, free tickets, morning shows all of that good shit. WCCC actually got me into concert photography and for that I thank them. It's been a hell of a ride for the station, (I'm sure) numerous DJ's have come and gone, concerts have been thrown, and life just goes on. Radio shock-jock and America's Got Talent host Howard Stern actually got his radio career started in Hartford on WCCC and you can tune into the station tomorrow to hear his words as he says goodbye to the station. Listen to the station LIVE right here: http://player.listenlive.co/19681 Thanks for the memories.
